There'll Come A Payday

I’ve finally updated my website! It’s been an interesting few years in my life, but not interesting enough to share with the entire internet. I’ll be using this blog as a place to share little tidbits from time to time. Nothing too heavy, nothing too technical. Today, I want to share something from one of my favorite TV series:

The Righteous Gemstones

This clip above exemplifies the charm of character Uncle Baby Billy (played by Walton Goggins) doing a faithful rendition of the Red Sovine (co-written by Ross & Mildred Burk) song, “There’ll Come A Payday.” You can hear the original here:

As a fan of Walton, (Just recently watched all of Justified and I'm a Virgo-- both are excellent!) gospel songs, Danny McBride and Red Sovine, this was right down my alley. The entire cast is excellent, with my favorite duo being Judy Gemstone (Played by Edi Patterson) and BJ (Tim Baltz)
While the show is burst-out laughing funny multiple times per episode, John Goodman's character provides the real heart and soul of the program, and his story seems like fodder for a whole slew of sad country songs. I'll leave you with this clip of possibly the saddest Red Sovine song: Giddy Up Go.
